Name of Waterfall

Lower Penoyer Falls

Description

Summit Creek originates from a high volcanic plateau pockmarked with literally hundreds of tiny (and a few not-so-tiny) lakes to the northwest of White Pass. One of the drainages descending from a handful of these lakes cascades down a rather ominous canyon along the outlet stream of Penoyer Lake, and along its course occur at least three significant waterfalls. The lowermost of the falls is a rather scenic horsetail-style drop of 64 feet in height, set against vivid rock and a forest floor covered in huckleberry bushes.
The stream producing these waterfall appears to feature a significant volume of water during the peak of snow melt season, but by late July its volume is considerably reduced and in turn the falls will be far from impressive. Given the amount of effort involved in reaching this waterfall, it will likely not be a destination many will wish to seek out, even under the best possible conditions.
