Lyme View Spring, Disley, Derbyshire

A nice roadside spring that flows from stone into the trough. Groundwater can sometimes get mixed into the flow if it has received heavy rainfall. If this happens, make sure to check the area right behind the spring. If groundwater is sitting on top of the spring and the flow is extremely fast, it is likely that the water is mixed. Lymeview Spring, just off Mudhurst Lane, is the place to go. The water is likely from the same source but with a different exit.

This spring comes from Kerridge Ridge. The water is able to flow even in the most severe weather conditions. The water is pumped out through a pipe, and eventually falls into a tub that overflows into an iron bath. Recently, the bath has become clogged with silt. It could be cleaned by planting watercress in it. The pipe can supply water, which is good, but it is difficult to access.

Description
Once a shrine to pilgrims, it is now a fountain. It is situated at the foot of "The Slopes" overlooking "The Crescent". This is the focal point for the town’s annual wells dressing celebrations, which take place in July. Buxton spring water can be accessed at a constant 28° Celsius.
