About This Waterfall

The falls can be found within along Route 8 in Sandisfield about 2/3 of a mile north of the Connecticut border. There is a large parking area on the east side of the road about 450 feet south of the bridge over the falls where visitors can pull off and walk back along the road to the bridge for a look.Marguerite Falls is a rather insignificant waterfall found cascading down a shaded gully adjacent to Route 8 just north of the Connecticut border. The stream feeding the falls drains from Lake Marguerite but the basin doesn't have a very large catchment area at all, so while the flow will be decent in the spring and early winter, during the summer and fall months the falls will be just a trickle unless there has been sustained periods of rain. When we surveyed the falls in October 2008 we measured its drop to be nearly 70 feet tall, which seems to be a rather liberally inaccurate figure. The true height of the falls is probably closer to 50 feet, but an exact height will have to wait until further surveying can be done.
