About This Waterfall
The falls are best seen immediately east of the town of Merritt along Highway 2. There is a long paved pullout on either side of the highway marked as a chain up area that the falls can be clearly seen from.Merritt Falls is a tall, skinny horsetail dropping about 200 feet in an alcove along the cliffs immediately south of the small town of Merritt on the east side of Stevens Pass. The falls are easily seen from Highway 2 where Nason Creek runs alongside the highway, providing clear views across the valley, but due to the stream's small drainage area, the falls are shorter lived than many others in the area. The Lake Ethel trail passes within about 1/4 mile of the bottom of the falls, but the traverse appeared to me to be quite brushy.
