Name of Waterfall

Middle Tumalo Falls

Description

Tumalo Creek literally overflows with waterfalls and though most are relatively small (say under 20 feet tall) they are all worth seeing. This is the uppermost of the waterfalls which have been mapped by the USGS along the creek, but in reality it is just one more in a long series of constant cascades. This is a nice waterfall by it self, plunging 43 feet into a small gorge in powerful fashion, so even if hiking further upstream to some of the additional falls in the area is not within the realm of possibility you'll see at least three waterfalls (the other two being Tumalo and Double Falls) while hiking to this location. Unfortunately, several trees obscure clear views of the falls from the official viewpoint just off the trail, so scrambling down the slopes is necessary to view the falls in their entirety. This waterfall is generally referred to as Upper Tumalo Falls because its the uppermost of the falls which have been mapped, but there are two more major falls on Tumalo Creek further upstream - as well as four more along the North Fork - so referring to it as "Upper" is not exactly accurate.
