About This Waterfall

Located north of the town of Powers, along the Rogue-Coquille Scenic Byway. From the city of Coos Bay, follow Highway 101 south to Highway 42. Follow Highway 42 for about 21 miles, and turn right onto the Rogue-Coquille Scenic Byway, signed for the town of Powers. Follow this road for about 19 miles to Johnson Mountain Road (just south of town), and turn right. Cross the bridge over the Coquille River, and park. Mill Creek Falls can be seen from the bridge, pouring into the river.Mill Creek Falls is another of several waterfalls which drop into the modest canyon cut by the South Fork Coquille River, between Powers and Myrtle Grove. The falls drop about 45 feet, falling almost straight into the Coquille River. Though it isn't visible from the main road, those with a keen eye will notice a distinct horizon line as the creek flows towards the river. Mill Creek appeared to be large enough to sustain a modest flow year round, but the surrounding area is arid enough that it wouldn't be out of the question to assume the falls may run dry during drought seasons.
