About This Waterfall
This is the first of three notable waterfalls along the westernmost of the three meltwater streams that originate in the White River Glacier on Mount Hood.Mi-mie is a Chinook Jargon word meaning "downstream". The name has been proposed by Lisa Hewitt of Portland, as a reflection of the fact that this waterfall is situated so perceptively high up on the barren slopes of Mount Hood that it seems like it should not be downstream of anything (but there is still a considerable run of the river above the falls).
