Mollisfossen
Mollisfossen is one of the cornerstone features of Reisa National Park, and is thought to be perhaps the most significant waterfall in northern Norway. The falls are commonly cited as dropping 269 meters (883 feet), however we have been unable to corroborate the accuracy of this figure due to detailed topographic maps of the area not being currently available online. Based on photographic and video evidence available online, we have no reason to think it isn't as tall as has been claimed, but it is certainly possible the height has been misrepresented over the years as so many waterfalls in Norway have been. The falls appear to drop in three distinct steps, but closer examination of aerial imagery of the falls shows the upper two "steps" to actually be one drop which slams onto a ledge midway down its fall.
Access to Mollisfossen requires a long hike up the Reisadalen to view the falls from across the river, or by chartering a boat up the river from outside of the National Park to access the bottom of the falls (there are no bridges crossing the Reisaelva from the foot trail, and it's far too large to safely ford).Mollisfossen is the most commonly used spelling for the falls, but the Sámi spelling Mollešgorži is also correct.
