About This Waterfall

Located near Oakridge, off Salmon Creek Road. At the east end of Oakridge, turn left onto Fish Hatchery Road and follow it for 1-½ miles to Salmon Creek Road. Turn right and proceed 3 ¾ miles to Salmon Creek Falls Campground. Park near the water pump and the outhouse and walk upstream along the road until you see the falls through the trees. There are paths that lead to the shores of Salmon Creek without intruding on any campsites that may be occupied, so be courteous and tactful. This low volume, though rather significant waterfall can be seen spraying directly into Salmon Creek about 200 feet upstream of Salmon Creek Falls. The small, unnamed stream flows towards the rim of the gorge and appears to get split into multiple channels by a root wad of some sort, from which the water sprays about 35 feet into Salmon Creek. The falls are viewed easily from the streamside, but best views are from a campsite directly across from the falls. This site was occupied when I visited the area, so I had to take pictures from downstream - which turned out to be just as good a place to shoot from. Late in the year, this stream may run close to dry, but I don't think it will dry out completely. The falls are best, of course, in the spring.
