Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is a high volume waterfall along Niagara Creek where it feeds into the eastern end of Quesnel Lake, just west of Cariboo Mountains and Wells Gray Provincial Parks. The falls begin by cascading down a gorge where Niagara Creek is constricted between sheer walls. As the cliffs give way to a broader basin below, the creek slams into multiple spires of rock jutting up from below, which causes the creek to segment into as many as eight channels (at low water) as it falls the remaining distance to the lake below. The total height of the falls is somewhere around 250 feet, possibly a bit less. Because the falls feed directly into Quesnel Lake and no roads lead into the area, the only methods of accessing the waterfall are either by boat or aircraft. Floatplanes will often fly guests into the nearby Silvertip Lodge and will offer good views of the falls en route.
