About This Spring
## Overview Novar Natural Spring is a roadside natural spring located along Road 592 near the small community of Novar in Ontario's Muskoka-Parry Sound region, not far from Fish Lake. Situated within the rugged Canadian Shield landscape, this spring has been a popular stop for locals and travelers looking to fill up on fresh, naturally occurring spring water. The surrounding area is rich in boreal forest, offering scenic beauty and a peaceful escape from the bustle of Highway 11. Visitors have long reported that the water from this spring tastes clean and refreshing, and it has historically been used as a drinking water source by area residents and passersby. The spring flows year-round and is freely accessible from the roadside, making it a convenient stop for anyone traveling through the Huntsville–North Bay corridor. The landscape around the spring is lush with native flora and fauna typical of central Ontario — mixed hardwood and conifer forests, granite outcrops, and the quiet beauty of nearby Fish Lake. The spot is well-suited for a brief roadside stop or a longer picnic outing with family or friends. Note that the terrain around the spring can be uneven and there is no formal safety infrastructure, so extra caution is advised if visiting with young children. ## Directions The spring is located on Road 592 near Novar, Ontario. The water emerges naturally and is accessible directly from the road, making it easy to pull over and fill containers. Many visitors bring jugs and bottles to stock up. The surrounding area offers a taste of Ontario's natural beauty: dense forests, birdsong, and the tranquility of the near-wilderness. Fish Lake is nearby for those who want to extend their visit with a walk or a paddle. The spring makes an excellent waypoint on a longer road trip through the Muskoka or Almaguin Highlands regions. Because this is an unimproved natural site, the ground can be uneven and potentially slippery, especially during spring thaw or after rain. There are no guardrails or fencing, so families with small children should keep a close eye on them near the water and the roadside. Seasonal conditions — particularly winter ice and spring runoff — may affect access and water flow.
