About This Waterfall

Outlet Falls can be found just under 6 miles east of Glenwood (northeast of White Salmon) along the Glenwood Highway. The unmarked viewpoint is located 8/10 of a mile west of the marked Klickitat Canyon viewpoint. Watch for a pullout where a road encircles a small group of trees. The falls are visible about 50 feet from the turnout.Outlet Falls is a spunky 69 foot plunging waterfall where Outlet Creek breaks out of a slowly deepening canyon amid farmlands and hurtles into a huge bowl as the creek erodes its way into the Klickitat Canyon. Amid the 200 foot cliffs of the canyon the falls seem quite insignificant and in some respects they are - I had long assumed this to be a taller waterfall than it really is. Outlet Creek is fed by several springfed tributaries that flow off Mount Adams, the waters of which I'm sure are tapped for irrigation. The creek often appears stained a muddy color - I suspect that rather than tanic acid as is common, this is actually manure and fertilizer (so don't drink the water from Outlet Creek and swimming in it is probably not a good idea either).
