Pin Head Falls
Pin Head Falls is the uppermost waterfall found along Pin Creek as it descends off the Dark Divide to meet the Lewis River. The falls plunge over a shelf of undercut volcanic bedrock, first falling free and then slamming onto a ledge and cascading for the remainder of its 36-foot drop. The canyon downstream of the falls is lined with huckleberry thickets for a short distance before opening up and deepening further where the creek plunges over Upper Pin Creek Falls. Because of the way the falls drop into the canyon, a clear view of the falls is only accessible by undertaking a modest bushwhack (which may involve wading through sticker bushes), or by wading directly up the creek. A nice informal campsite is located just off the road at the top of the falls which provides easy access to views looking over the falls, but no direct views of the falls itself.
