About This Waterfall

The parking area for Punchbowl Falls is located 1.1 kilometers up the Miette Hot Springs Road (Alberta 275) from Pocahontas - which is found about 7 km west of the eastern entrance station along the Yellowhead Highway in Jasper National Park.Punchbowl Falls is a low volume waterfall along Mountain Creek found adjacent to the Miette Hot Springs Road just south of the Yellowhead Highway in Jasper National Park. The falls drop a total of 33 feet in steps of 6, 18 and 9 feet respectively. As of 2017 there is no developed viewpoint which allows a full view of the falls, and it's not entirely clear whether one may have existed in the first place. A footbridge allows easy views looking down over the top of the falls just seconds from the parking area, but the trail ends at a fenced viewpoint before circling around in front of the falls which doesn't actually provide any views (of anything). An unimproved path does extend to where the falls can be seen, however the tread is carved into the clay hillside which becomes dangerously slick when wet and proceeding past the fence is strongly discouraged in following.
