About This Waterfall
Rainbow Falls is the uppermost waterfall within Dismals Canyon. About 250 feet downstream from the falls is a sign for "Phantom Falls", which is actually not a waterfall but an echo chamber in the canyon that creates an auditory illusion of a waterfall being located nearby.
