About This Waterfall

Take Highway 120 (Big Oak Flat Road) east from Groveland for about 13 miles to the bridge over the South Fork Tuolumne River, and turn right immediately before the bridge at the sign indicating Rainbow Pool. This road is one-way, leading down to the parking area for the falls next to restrooms in about 800 feet. The trail down to the bottom of the falls takes less than 2 minutes to walk. To get back to Highway 120, continue along the one-way road for another half-mile.Rainbow Pool is a small, but pretty waterfall along the South Fork of the Tuolumne River, about halfway between Yosemite National Park and Groveland, just off Highway 120. The falls drop about 15 feet into a large, very well formed (and namesake) pool which is a popular destination for both swimming and fishing. During periods of moderate flow the falls will develop a smaller second segment, and then during high water the river will stretch across the low ledge and create a much wider fall.
