Name of Waterfall

Reconnaissance Creek Falls

Description

While not a high volume waterfall by Sierra standards, Reconnaissance Creek forms one of the tallest single-drop waterfalls in the contiguous United States where it plunges over a nearly sheer wall of almost 900 feet into the canyon of the San Joaquin River. No trails lead to views of the falls, but one does approach near its crest. It should be possible to achieve a view from across the canyon but this will require at least a mile to a mile and a half of cross-country travel, if not more, through potentially steep and dangerous terrain.
