About This Waterfall
Round Butte Falls is more or less an ephemeral waterfall that flows into Lake Billy Chinook near the Round Butte Dam. The drainage feeding the falls is very small, but it is also heavily influenced by irrigation runoff. I tried finding a viewpoint for the falls in May 2008 and failed to take my GPS and ended up bailing because of time constraints. I noticed the stream had a fairly decent amount of water in it where it crosses the road above the falls, but upon returning 3 days later, it was completely dry. This makes me think that it will see the most noticeable volume of water in the late afternoon since the sprinklers in the fields upstream will have been running all day.
