The township carefully designed this spring and keeps it well-maintained. It is easy to find, has a large parking lot next to the spout and good quality water.

From the middle of Russell, PA (intersection with Rt. 62 & Rt. 957) Turn east on Liberty Street. This becomes Akeley Hollow Road/Priest Hollow Road. Travel approximately 5 miles. On the right side of the road is spring and large parking lot. It's hard to miss.

Handsome Lake Resort Spring is located in the Allegheny National Forest, just outside Chapman State Park. Adams Run, which is home to many rare native species, including hellbenders and brook trout, receives water from this spring. The spring runs from a fissure on a hillside to a small springhouse with metal pipes into a terracotta basin, which can be used to fill small jugs and for drinking. The water is clear, cold, and charged with life force.

Wildcat Run, which has been popular since 1936, is a "true" spring of outstanding quality. Wildcat Park is the closest fill-up area, located just east from Ludlow, PA. The spring rises from the hill's upper half into a stone spring house. From there, it is transported through rubber tubing and to a fill-up location with paths and metal grate. The spring flows steadily and strongly, with a distinct pulse that comes from the earth. This spring is the best, but there are many other springs with similar quality.
