About This Waterfall
The Cascades can be found 7 miles from Highway 101 along the Sol Duc Valley Road in Olympic National Park. The falls are easily seen from the road and parking is provided a short distance further where a short path leads to a deck overlooking the cascade.By Washington State standards this isn't so much a legitimate waterfall as it is a tall rapid. The Sol Duc River intersects a rib of rock and is squeezed into a short, narrow gorge resulting in the cascades. The falls are only included here because the Park Service recognizes the feature such - it would not otherwise qualify as a significant waterfall. During lower flows the falls are reduced in height to as little as 5 feet, but can increase to closer to 15 feet tall in high water events.
