About This Waterfall

This waterfall can be seen from Highway 20, about 4/10 of a mile east of Lillian Creek, where the highway parallels Ruby Arm. There is a large turnout where the creek crosses the road, with ample room for many cars. This small, unnamed waterfall can be found adjacent to Highway 20, as it parallels Ruby Arm, heading east towards Washington and Rainy Passes. Though this part of the falls is easily seen from the road, I noticed that the falls appeared to extend much further up the hillside. The falls occur along a small drainage stemming from the east side of the north shoulder of Ruby Mountain, and though the stream doesn't appear to be fed by any permanent snow or ice, the falls do flow year round. This waterfall has previously been listed without a name. Upon a recent visit to the falls, I noticed a memorial for one Kim Sattler, who appears to have been killed near the falls, so it seems only fitting to name the falls for her. Greg Plumb erroneously cites this waterfall as occurring on Lillian Creek (which is one drainage west) in the 4th edition of "Waterfall Lovers Guide to the Pacific Northwest".
