About This Waterfall

This is a fairly significant waterfall on Schoeffel Creek located at about the 3250 foot level. In 2006 a missing hiker was rescued below the falls after being lost and disoriented for over a week. Articles about the hiker's rescue cite the falls as dropping 300 feet, however topographic data suggests this is probably quite exaggerated, and the falls may be perhaps half that height (though until detailed lidar data of the area is available, the exact size of the falls will not be easily determined). Access to this waterfall should be considered extremely difficult and not at all recommended.
