Sléttufoss

Sléttufoss is a noteworthy waterfall which can be seen along Highway 1 in Reyðarfjörður. The falls are prominently visible from the main road as one drives from north to south, but will be less obvious for motorists traveling in the opposite direction as the road travels almost directly away from the falls and shortly before the junction with Route 92. The falls are estimated to drop approximately 60 meters in two distinct steps, with the large majority of the drop occurring in the final step of the fall as it plunges into a deep alcove in the mountainside. When surveying the falls in 2014 we did not have enough time to approach closely to obtain an accurate measurement of its height.
