About This Waterfall
Slide Creek Falls is a narrow plunging waterfall found near the mouth of its namesake stream, in the general vicinity of the Soda Springs reservoir along the North Umpqua River. The falls drop a sheer 137 feet from a narrow notch in the cliff, plunging into a small blue pool nestled in a grotto surrounded by basalt cliffs. Below the falls are several very large moss covered boulders which have choked the streambed having fallen from the adjacent cliffs. Slide Creek drains from a basin which covers approximately 5.3 square miles in area, and should retain a moderately consistent though fairly low flow for much of the year. By late summer the volume of water present will likely be reduced to less than one cubic foot per second, but the stream should not dry out.
