About This Waterfall

South Dog Mountain Falls is a seasonal yet surprisingly significant waterfall found along an unnamed watercourse which runs from a small basin southwest of Dog Mountain, and flows into Marten Creek about one-third of the way between the Snoqualmie Lake Trail and Marten Lake. The falls are found where the creek veils 127 feet into the surprisingly significant gorge of Marten Creek, with potentially more falls further upstream (but out of sight). The unnamed stream feeding the falls drains from a rather small basin, and the lack of drainage area suggests the stream may in fact run dry during the late summer. However given that many of the small tributary streams along the Snoqualmie Lake Trail retain some flow for most of the year, there is a chance that this stream may do the same. This waterfall and its stream are neither significant enough to have ever been officially named. As there is already another waterfall on the north side of Dog Mountain which we refer to as Dog Mountain Falls, we've opted to add on the "South" delimiter.
