About This Waterfall
The falls are best seen from the Squamish Main around the 29 mile marker. The best viewpoint is the large open staging area on the river side of the road around the 29 mile marker which the rafting companies use to access the Squamish River.Storey Peak Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls viewable from a road in British Columbia. The falls drain from a handful of small glaciers and snowfields on the Squamish-Ashlu Divide, feeding into two separate streams which initially plunge over the side of the valley then skip and stairstep the rest of the way to the Squamish River below. The falls actually consist of between 10 and 15 distinct steps on each segment, but its almost impossible to tell where one ends and the next begins, so we have opted to consider the whole series to fall within the Steep Cascade category. This waterfall had previously been referred to as Icecap Falls. This naming convention was based on poor resolution / poorly labeled maps, and after consulting more accurate ones its clear the falls drain from Storey Peak rather than Icecap Peak, so the name has been adjusted accordingly. It should also be noted that the 1st Edition of the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains Backroad Mapbook incorrectly marks Icecap Falls (this waterfall) at the location where Bedard Falls occurs.
