About This Waterfall
Swiftcurrent Falls is a tall, high volume waterfall along Swiftcurrent Creek in Mount Robson Provincial Park. Based on topographic data the falls appear to drop approximately 1750 feet over an amphitheater headwall between Mount Longstaff and Whitehorn Mountain. Because the bedrock comprising the headwall is limestone, the creek has eroded a very narrow slot canyon into the headwall which causes much of the waterfall to seem to disappear into underground tunnels for short distances, only to re-emerge and disappear again. The largest section of the falls exposed to the surface stands about 400 feet tall, but the majority of the remaining descent occurs within the deep canyon and is extremely difficult - if not impossible - to see.
