About This Waterfall
There is no known developed access to Turner Falls, and unless / until a trail is built, the only way to see the falls is likely to be via helicopter.Turner Falls is a lofty two-stepped waterfall plunging out of a narrow glacial cirque hidden at the end of a narrow valley which feeds into the famous Hollyford River. Cleft Creek slides out of Lake Turner, splits into three channels and plunges about 200 feet in triple side-by-side falls. The creek then flows along a short trough and hurtles more than 1000 feet over the valley's headwall. New Zealand's topographic maps has the height of this waterfall notated as 265 meters (870 feet), but the topographic maps themselves seem to contradict this figure (as well as marking the falls at the wrong location), but because of the extremely remote location verifying our estimate for the falls' height will prove difficult.
