About This Waterfall
Twin Falls is a serendipitously artificial creation. When the Great Falls Dam was build on the Caney Fork River in 1915, it impounded the Collins River in the adjacent drainage. The bedrock separating the two rivers turned out to be very pourous and the impounded waters rose high enough to seep through the cliff in great volume, emerging 80-feet above the Caney Fork River downstream of the dam and creating the side-by-side falls.
