About This Waterfall
In between Emperor Falls and Falls of the Pool the Robson River flows down a very geologically interesting trough which runs parallel to a deep canyon along the rim of the canyon, just meters away from the edge of the canyon. The bedrock slopes away from the cliffs such that the river never breaches over the cliff walls and continues paralleling the canyon (which the river presumably once occupied long ago) for nearly 8/10 of a kilometer. Along this length of river there is at least one significant waterfall, if not two or three. The largest of these falls appears to drop perhaps 60-80 feet (20-25 meters) in a steep sliding cascade located about 300 meters downstream of the base of Emperor Falls. A sliver of this cascade can actually be seen distantly from the Berg Lake Trail between the Falls of the Pool viewpoint and the spur trail to the base of Emperor Falls, but there is no developed access which allows for up-close inspection. Hiking cross-country along the rim of the trough which bounds the river from the base of Emperor Falls does look possible, but we didn't have enough time to do so on our 2017 visit to the area. A short video at the visitor center at Mount Robson Meadows has footage of the falls from a helicopter flyover.
