About This Waterfall

The uppermost of the two final waterfalls along Rock Creek is more or less the exact opposite of its downstream sibling - wide and stout versus tall and powerful. Rock Creek sheets out over cheese grater-style bedrock (likely the same conglomerate formation found at the lower falls), widens to over 150 feet and thunders about 40 feet over this impressive falls. Though this waterfall has been featured in guidebooks in the past, there has never been sanctioned public access. Upon last visit to the falls there didn't appear to be any explicit prohibition of access to the falls via user-created paths, however despite the waterfall itself being located on land owned by the town of Stevenson, there is no way to access the waterfall without crossing private property (this includes going through the adjacent Cemetery). Please heed any No Trespassing or Posted signs you may encounter and do not attempt to visit the falls unless it is clear that public access is welcomed and allowed. This waterfall appeared on early postcards labeled simply as Upper Rock Creek Falls, as a differentiation from its downstream sibling. More recently the falls have been referred to as just Rock Creek Falls, likely more out of lack of knowledge of the lower falls as well as development around the gorge stemming access to both waterfalls.
