About This Waterfall
The city of Wichita Falls was named after a 5-foot tall natural waterfall along the Wichita River which was entirely destroyed in a flood in 1886. All that remains today is a section of small ripples and rocks in the river. The city having put up with a hundred years worth of visitors wanting to see the falls constructed an artificial fountain-style waterfall which pours into the river adjacent to the Interstate 44 bridge over the river.
