Name of Waterfall

Willamina Falls

Description

This waterfall occurs within private land, directions will not be posted.Considering the nature of the bedrock in Oregon's Coast Mountains, one can follow pretty much any given stream and eventually find a significant waterfall. Willamina Creek illustrates this phenomenon well. The creek winds upstream from the valleys of the Yamhill River, through gorges several hundred feet deep in many places, yet it doesn't appear to lose much elevation. Eventually, the road crosses the creek where the valley takes an abrupt step and the creek drops over a pretty 40 foot waterfall.
When we surveyed the location in 2006 we took no note of signs indicating the property was posted, however the landowners have said that frequently the area will be vandalized by target shooters, garbage dumping and other illegal activity. This is absolutely not acceptable activity to undertake in any circumstance, but more so when the land is not public. Because of this repeated vandalism of the property, the landowners have asked us to relay that whether or not there are Posted or No Trespassing signs around Willamina Falls, the land is private and is off limits to the public. Please be respectful of their rights and do not visit without prior permission.
Those in the area who are looking for a waterfall which can be publicly accessed can find a pretty 5 foot tall, 70 foot wide lower waterfall along the Willamina Creek Road about four miles from the town of Willamina.
