About This Waterfall

Wizard Falls was a 12-foot tall cascade where the water bubbling out of Wizard Falls Spring poured into the Metolius River. In 1948 when the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery was constructed, the spring was diverted to provide water for the rearing ponds, which rendered the falls dry. A picture of the falls can be seen on an information board near the hatchery and it appears to have been a questionable waterfall in the first place. As it is now, unless the hatchery is shut down completely for cleaning or maintenance, chances are the falls will not flow again. The small frothy rapid along the Metolius River adjacent to the bridge leading to the hatchery is often incorrectly assumed to be Wizard Falls.
