About This Waterfall

Yamhill Falls is a small set of rapids (though technically not even rapids) along the Yamhill River. The feature is essentially only recognized because of a set of locks and an accompanying dam which were constructed in 1900 to bypass the unnavigable portion of the riverbed. The dam was destroyed and locks decommissioned in 1954. It is possible that the falls may have been more significant before the dam was destroyed, but as it is now, this feature cannot be considered to be a waterfall and is referenced here out of historical importance only.
