Big Springs is one headwater of the Snake River. This large spring, located in Island Park Idaho, gushes large amounts of clean water. Two things make Big Springs famous: The first is the large trout visible from the bridge. Visitors love to feed the fish. For Johnny Sacks cabin.
This area is home to over 200,000 gallons of pure, clean water per day. That's enough water to provide water for one million people. A bridge lies just a short distance from this glassy pool. Put bread crumbs in the water and you will see the perfect trout habitat.

Description
Spring water is pumped from the east through a PVC tube from the pine tree-covered hill to a cement storage tank. This 1981-dated tank is covered in a green-painted plywood cover. From the tank's south side, a steel pipe runs. Below the pipe, you will find slate rocks - the ideal height to fill a carboy weighing 4-5 gallons. The flow rate is approximately 1 gallon/minute. Sign says "State Vermont can't guarantee the quality and availability of water." Another homemade sign reads, "HELP keep this area clean."

The East Side of Route 12 is located in the woods north of the junction with Route 12 W. Brookfield Road & Lower Maloney Road. Look for a cement holding container with a green covering at the pulloff.

Route 12 takes you 20 miles south to Montpelier, VT.
Route 12 runs 7 miles north of Randolph.
