About This Waterfall

Ape Canyon Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in southern Washington, dropping at least 700 feet in a long, narrow horsetail down a cliff at the head of the north branch of Ape Canyon which was scoured clean during the 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens. Unfortunately there are no views of the falls from the popular Ape Canyon and Loowit Trails, but a view over the top of the falls is quite easy to obtain. Most hikers who venture to Ape Canyon however turn around at the more commonly seen south branch, which is dry year round and features no waterfalls.
