About This Waterfall
Caledonia Cascade is a low volume (and probably ephemeral) waterfall which drops into Tallulah Gorge immediately upstream of Oceana Falls. The falls have been claimed to drop 600 feet in total, however one-meter resolution lidar data shows this to be a gross overestimate, and in actuality the total drop is around 330 feet in 3-4 distinct steps, with the largest individual leap falling about 150 feet. The drainage basin for the creek which forms the falls covers an area of only about 0.18 square miles (about 112 acres), so without sustained rainfall (or snow melt, though unlikely for this part of the country) chances are the falls will be dry.Topographic maps label this waterfall as Cascade Falls. Caledonia Cascade is the proper name.
