About This Waterfall

This is one of five waterfalls along the Tallulah River within Tallulah Gorge which had been in the past referred to collectively as Tallulah Falls. The name Hawthorne Cascade, long since out of use for this waterfall, makes reference to Hawthorne's Pool, the pool below L'Eau d'Or Falls. Hugh Hawthorne, for whom it was named, was an Irish Priest who lived in the area and drowned in the pool below the falls on July 11, 1837.
