About This Waterfall
Cavern Falls are found in Moran State Park on Orcas Island. From the Ferry dock at East Sound, follow the main road around the Island for 14 miles to the Mount Constitution Road, turning left. Park at the marked trailhead about 1/4 mile further. Cavern Falls are found by hiking down to Cascade Creek, first arriving at Rustic Falls, then heading left(upstream) for another 1/4 mile where the trail climbs above the falls.Cavern Falls is the second largest waterfall along Cascade Creek in Moran State Park on Orcas Island. The falls consist of a 5 to 8 foot tall plunge which flows out of a narrow slot covered with brambly thickets then veils about 12 feet down a more exposed protrusion of bedrock. The falls are easily seen from the Cascade Creek trail but are largely blocked by bushes that make photographs from the trail simply a waste of time. This one is probably only interesting to waterfall hunters.
