About This Waterfall
Crescent Glacier Falls is a fairly lofty waterfall which spills an estimated 150 meters (but potentially less) in a narrow veiling horsetail form along the unnamed stream which originates from the Crescent Glacier in Bugaboo Provincial Park. The Crescent Glacier is one of the smaller glaciers in the Bugaboos, but it still sends a respectable volume of water tumbling down the valley throughout the warm season. Unfortunately there is no direct access to up-close views of this waterfall without undertaking extensive and potentially hazardous off-trail scrambling. The popular Conrad Kain Hut trail passes near the top of the falls, and may offer partial glimpses of the falls from the side as it climbs up out of the valley next to the falls. Long distance cross-valley views are available from Frenchman Mountain (about 3 kilometers away), which can be accessed from the Silver Basin Trail, but without a strong telephoto lens these views are inconsequential at best.
