About This Waterfall

Take Highway 95 to the town of Brisco, located about 30 kilometers north of Radium Hot Springs. In Brisco, turn west on Brisco Road and cross the Columbia River. Continue on Brisco Road for 4.8 kilometers, then bear left onto the Bugaboo Creek Forest Service Road, just after crossing the Templeton River. From this point on the road becomes rougher but is navigable in most vehicles. Keep a close eye on the signs along the road and follow those pointing to Bugaboo Provincial Park. Hemlock Creek Falls can be partially seen across the valley approximately 28 kilometers from Brisco Road, where the road passes through a large avalanche zone.Hemlock Creek is a tributary to Bugaboo Creek found about halfway between the Columbia River and the Bugaboo Glacier. The creek tumbles into the valley via what appears likely to be a multi-stepped cascading waterfall which may drop as much as 120 meters in all. A portion of the falls can be seen from along the Bugaboo Creek Forest Service Road as it ascends the valley toward Bugaboo Provincial Park, but it didn't appear that more than perhaps one-third of the falls could be seen (easily at least). During our first visit to the area, we spotted the falls while driving in to Bugaboo Provincial Park, but didn't stop to photograph it until the drive out the following morning, at which time the light was truly horrible, so it was difficult to gauge the extent of the visible portion of the falls.
