About This Waterfall
The Mandovi River meanders across a heavily forested plateau in the Western Ghats mountain range. The river makes a southward turn and drops over 1000 feet down a multitiered rock ledge. The falls narrow and pass underneath a railroad bridge that spans a narrow gap about halfway down the rock face. The river widens and continues to slide and drop to a broad pool below. The name means "Sea of Milk" and this is a fairly accurate descriptive moniker when the falls are in flood.
