About This Waterfall
Triple Falls are accessed from Dolly Copp Road, which runs between Highway 2 and Route 16 a few miles southeast of Gorham. From Gorham, follow Route 16 south for 4.4 miles, then turn right onto Dolly Copp Road, then continue another 2.75 miles from Route 16 to the small bridge spanning Townline Brook and park. From Highway 2 in Randolph, its 1.7 miles along Dolly Copp Road to the bridge on Townline Brook. Look for a small sign indicating Triple Falls, and follow the trail upstream for about two-tenths of a mile to Evans Falls, passing Proteus and Erebus Falls en route.Evans Falls is the uppermost of the trifecta of waterfalls along Townline Brook which collectively are known as Triple Falls, though despite this label each waterfall is named individually. This one is really more of an afterthought type feature than anything else, dropping only about 10 feet, though in fairly scenic side-by-side streams which create a fairly eye catching formation.Erebus Falls is one of three distinct waterfalls which makes up a collective known as Triple Falls, though hikers following the Townline Brook Trail may notice that each individual waterfall is called out by name as well. According to the book Waterfalls of the White Mountains, the name is likely in honor of Captain John Evans, who helped to construct the first road over Pinkham Notch.
