Sol Duc Hot Springs is the best destination in the park. There are three mineral soaking pools as well as a freshwater pool. Because of the natural flow and cycle, the water is rich in nutrients. The pools are believed to be filled by rainwater and melting sand that travelled through the sedimentary rock formations surrounding them. This trip highlights the gasses, minerals, and other substances that were brought to the pools by water from nearby volcanic rocks.
The Small Mineral Wading Pool, which is approximately 6-8 inches deep, is the deepest. The pool averages 99 degrees in temperature.
The Medium Mineral Pool is 3 feet deep, while the Large Mineral Fountain Pool is 3 feet deep. These pools are reserved for children 4 years and older. These pools are more hot, with an average temperature of 101-104 degrees.
The Freshwater Pool is 3ft deep and available to everyone.
The hot spring management closes the hotsprings twice per day for water testing. This is known as the "resting phase".
Sol Duc Hot Springs' RV and campground are open from March 23 to October 28. Primitive camping can be found in the offseason.
