About This Waterfall

Inspiration Falls is recognized as being the tallest free-falling waterfall in the State of New York. One meter resoluton lidar data indicates the falls to have a drop of drop of about 325 feet, and though technically the falls are not truly free-falling in that they impact the side of the cliff about halfway down, the overall pitch of the falls is for all intents and purposes 90 degrees. The falls are not highly regarded due to the insignificant size of its drainage basin and only flow for a short period of the year - usually seeing the heaviest flow some time during the spring months. The falls will dry out by early summer but may briefly be brought back to life by a passing storm.
