About This Waterfall
The Lower Falls of the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park is the smallest of the three major waterfalls on the river in the park, with a drop of about 70 feet, and stretching to about 280 feet in width. The falls drop at almost a 90-degree angle to the direction of flow of the river, creating an interesting "sideways" drop into the lower tier of the gorge. A second drop of about 10 feet occurs just downstream from the main falls, but at high water it becomes almost entirely submerged due to the narrowing of the riverbed below the falls.
