About This Waterfall
Kvinnefossen is a low to moderate volume waterfall which can be seen from the roadside veiling down a cliff along the north side of the Sognefjorden between Leikanger and the Hella ferry terminal. The falls are commonly cited as dropping 200 meters (655 feet), and while topographic maps generally support this it appears likely that it's actually slightly taller than that - somewhere closer to 210-220 meters (700-730 feet).The officially recognized spelling for this waterfall seems to be Kvinnefossen, but Kvinnafossen has also been commonly used and both spellings are essentially interchangeable.
