About This Waterfall
The falls are best viewed from the Icefields Parkway about 9 kilometers north of Saskatchewan Crossing. If the proper drainage can be found, following the creek upstream to the base of the falls may be possible (without the aid of a trail however).Lady Wilson's Falls is a tall but modestly low volume waterfall flowing off a small westerly lobe of the Wilson Icefield in Banff National Park. The falls consist of a sheer plunge of 400-500 feet, followed by further falls of unknown height which drop down an extremely narrow canyon. The total drop of the falls, depending on how it breaks up within the canyon, could be well over 2000 feet which would make this easily the tallest waterfall we have recorded thus far in Alberta. This waterfall is not known to have an official name. The ice formations which appear within the canyon in the winter have earned the moniker "Lady Wilson's Cleavage" by the ice climbing community, we've opted to run with an adaptation of that name.
