About This Waterfall
Laughingwater Creek drains from the Pacific Crest in the southern margins of Mount Rainier National Park. The stream flows through a narrow valley then drops about 1200 feet in a little under 2 miles to reach the Ohanapecosh River. The stream is plenty steep in several places to harbor multiple waterfalls, but based on an initial survey of the area it appears that this may be the only waterfall of note on Laughingwater Creek. The falls consist of a 26 foot tall twisting plunge that almost doubles back on itself (hard to really convey in pictures) followed by two slides of about 15 feet each a short distance downstream. That the slides are difficult to see, much less photograph makes this one all the more disappointing and is probably best left to hardcore waterfall enthusiasts.
